One of the reasons why I like geocaching. It’s the journey and discovery of new and interesting places.
That little grassy mound directly behind the bridge was once upon a time, a place where so called witches would have been brought after they had stood trial to meet their demise. Witch hunting was rife in these parts in the mid 1600’s, as it was in many parts of the UK. There are many of these places around the local areas, showing what a popular activity it was back then. People were even made officials and given the title of Witch-Watchers.
Thankfully there were no Witch Watchers or any witches being burned here today. Thankfully that practice seemed to die out a long time ago.
